Resalta to retrofit lighting in three of Merkur’s retail centers in Slovenia

A leader in the region, Merkur has been providing home improvement tools and solutions, including a range of products for construction, renovation and maintenance for 125 years. It currently operates 23 retail centres and strives to provide the best possible service and shopping experience for its customers, while preserving the environment. As such, it chose Resalta as its partner to improve lighting in three of its main facilities and lower carbon emissions.

Resalta will replace a total of 4,099 fluorescent luminaires with highly efficient LED, thus reducing energy consumption by 73%. The lighting retrofit will result in nearly doubled luminosity, for a far lower installed capacity. A redesign of the locations of the luminaires will also help improve efficiency and comfort. The lighting will include not just the shopping area but also warehouse, offices and other spaces within the retail centres. Besides lowering electricity consumption, thus generating financial savings, the measures will reduce CO2 emissions for Merkur by 801 tons each year.

Lighting renovation projects are a cost-effective and technologically simple method of improving energy efficiency and generate immediate results, achieving energy as well as financial savings while reducing CO2 emissions. LED lighting is energy efficient because it consumes less electricity than a fluorescent alternative, with a longer life cycle.
