One of Resalta’s latest industrial projects is with the Serbian brick factory Univerzum. With several production sites throughout Serbia, Univerzum aims to be the most modern brick producer in the region, and to this end has chosen to improve its energy efficiency. In order to lower costs, Resalta has installed reactive power compensation units in factories in Aranđelovac and Inđija. The four new units installed will result in power factor correction that will lower electricity costs by 7%.
Given that Univerzum uses reactive energy to help power the kilns and grinders for brick production, as well as the conveyor system, Resalta chose to provide a solution to avoid high costs from the electricity supplier. By installing a reactive energy capacitors after the utility meter, Resalta’s solution effectively provides power factor correction and immediately lowers the bill paid to the distribution service by reducing reactive power load on the grid.
Univerzum used outdated and inefficient reactive energy capacitors in its two factories in Aranđelovac and Inđija. Resalta replaced them with a 600 and 400 kVAr and two 600 kVAr units with a filtering factor of 7%(189Hz), respectively, bringing the combined power of units installed up to 1.2 MVAr. The capacities for the new units are the result of very careful calculations to precisely meet the real demand of Univerzum for its brick production. They will ensure reliable energy supply at a lower cost and optimize production cycles.
Power factor correction through the use of reactive energy capacitors are an easily implemented solution that can generate great savings for all varieties of industrial production.
