Resalta is proud to announce the signing of a new public-private partnership in Slovenia with the City of Velenje. As private partner, Resalta will carry out a complete energy retrofit of two municipal buildings: elementary school Plešivec and the swimming pool of Velenje.
The signing of the project was carried out on Monday 25th of March in the Velenje City Hall, in presence of Velenje mayor Bojan Kontič as well as Resalta CEO Luka Komazec and Marjan Klepec, director of the Red Hall Sports and Recreation Institute. At the event, Luka Komazec said:
"We are very happy to be partnering with Velenje on this project that will improve comfort for staff and students at the Plešivec elementary school as well as for users of the municipal swimming pool. We appreciate the trust placed in us by the municipality and are committed to improving energy efficiency in the public sector through partnerships such as these."
The implemented measures for the elementary school will include the insulation of outer walls, a new roof with thermal insulation and window shading. A new boiler room will be built to install a new biomass boiler which will replace a light fuel oil boiler for heating the building. Additionally, an air to water heat pump will be used for preparation of sanitary water outside of the heating season. All the lighting will be replaced with energy efficient LED lighting, and all electrical installations will be renovated as part of the retrofit.
The Velenje swimming pool will also have its outer walls renovated and a new roof installed over the central pool. The district heating substation will be renovated, as will the system for heating sanitary water. Two new ultrafiltration devices for the processing of water for both the large and small pool will be installed. A water to water heat pump will recover heat from the swimming pools’ waste water. All the lighting will be replaced with LED lighting and a central energy monitoring and control system will oversee all new installations.
The solutions implemented will generate savings for the municipality on heating, electricity as well as swimming pool water and CO2. In addition to improving energy efficiency, the measures will increase student, staff and user comfort.
The investment value of the project is EUR 1.1 million, with Resalta providing 58.27% and the Municipality of Velenje 41.73%, of which 81% will be covered through cohesion and state funds. The contract duration is set at 15 years, during which Resalta will also take care of operations and maintenance.
As one of the private partners in the energy retrofit of the City of Ljubljana project that included 48 buildings, Resalta is a strong advocate of the PPP model throughout the region. Following numerous projects in the public sector in Slovenia, it has expanded its public operations to Croatia and Serbia and will continue to provide support to public institutions and municipalities seeking to improve their energy efficiency at a low cost and with a trusted partner.
