Situation before the contract and client requirements

The municipality was using two expensive and inefficient crude oil boilers to heat the elementary school and one kindergarten (2 x 230 kW). The schools use 300 MWh annually.

As the municipality is doing works to extend the school facilities, the predicted new required heat is 430 MWh annually.

Resalta solution

Resalta’s solution was to install a biomass boiler using efficient, environmentally friendly and locally sourced fuel. A new boiler room was built to house the biomass boiler, along with a storage facility for woodchips, adjacent to the schools.

The biomass boiler of 250 kW capacity will be connected by pipeline to the existing boiler room. One of the existing boilers will be kept as a reserve to cover peaks in demand. The combined new heating power is 480 kW, more than enough to meet the estimated new requirements of the schools.
