Situation before the contract and client requirements
Gorenje’s plant in Velenje requires a cooling system with a capacity of 1,600 kW, to cool hydraulic oil and tools.
Its original two systems had an insufficient cooling capacity, were obsolete and had a low energy efficiency ratio, in addition to which they operated all year long and did not take advantage of the site’s free-cooling potential.
In summer months, the system struggled to meet Gorenje’s cooling needs due to a lack of capacity.
Resalta solution
Two-temperature cooling regime: one mode to cool hydraulic oil with temperatures of 30/35° C and a capacity of 940 kW, and a second mode to cool tools with temperatures of 15/20°C and a capacity of 660 kW.
The system is sized based on the quantities of plastic materials actually processed (cooling requirement of 250 W / kg of input material).
The system maximizes the possibility of using free-cooling, uses adiabatic cooling via an autonomous demi water system that allows the system to operate during very high temperatures.
